Movie - Cloverfield

"What the hell was that?"

"I don't know.  Something else.  Also terrible."

I'm a J.J. Abrams fan, despite my abandonment of Lost after season 1.  I enjoyed this, althought it is not his best work.  I liked the "found documentary evidence" gimmick, although there were times I wanted to yell at the guy with the camera.  I mean, if you are pinned down in the street, don't film your friends, film the giant destructive thing in front of you!  And I think he revealed the monster a little too soon.  It didn't hurt that one of the actors looks like a younger Michael Vartan, either.  He is a hottie.  But overall, I thought it was a pretty good summer movie, with lots of destruction.  And the special effects were very seamless; I'm pretty picky about that.

It was okay, but didn't live up to my expectations. I'm not sure I would even buy the DVD to be honest.

Cameraman Hud was an idiot!

I just tried to watch this on a plane, I don't know if it was the small screen but it gave me motion sickness and I had to stop!

A friend of mine loaned me her copy of this movie recently by mistake. She meant to loan me another movie--but had put the wrong disc in the case. I really hadn't planned on ever watching Cloverfield ever to be honest, but I wasn't feeling well that day and decided to give it a try.

I ended up really liking it. It was fun, if anything. I even jumped at one point and held my breath in another. My expectations weren't high, so perhaps that is why I enjoyed it so much. :-)
