Have you ever been in or near a tornado?
No - we occasionally get a "funnel cloud" during our summer thunderstorms, but never anything real. And we don't have basements here, so I don't know what we would do if we did have a freak tornado.

Autralia: foreign and exotic, yet the speak English!
Tornadoes: as a tornado alley citizen let me give you the best tips possible. 1. Go to an interior room/closet without a window. 2. Get down low. 3. If you can pull some thick blankets or a mattress or some couch cushions to help cover you do so. 4. A battery operated radio is your friend. 5. Pray to whatever diety you prefer.
Hurricanes give you a few days notice. Tornadoes are just plain mean and unpredictable.
